The Cove still doesn't have much of a garden. When we took on the property, the bulk of the plot was a strip of field laid to rough grass. In front of the house was a derelict building needing demolition. There was a great deal of groundwork to do to change soil levels around the house and improve surface drainage. We have dug over three hundred metres of trenches for services (power, comms, water) as well as creating two deep ponds. In May this year we moved forty tonnes of topsoil into new raised beds. Because of these groundworks, we have only started planting in earnest within the last year. This has included a small orchard of heritage Norfolk varieties from the East of England Apples and Orchard Project.
There are three sets of pictures below covering 2017 to 2021 and the Aerial Timeline page also shows progress over the years.
